Dr. Mike Morrison

Michael Morrison is Professor and Caesar Kleberg Chair in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation in the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences at Texas A&M University. He obtained a PhD in wildlife science from Oregon State University, and is a Fellow in the American Ornithological Union. In the area of wind energy-related avian mortality, since 1994 he has provided ornithological and biostatistical consultation to the federal Department of Energy, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) on avian-wind power interactions. In addition, Dr. Morrison has assisted in study design and monitoring for many wind power developments. His primary research has been in the field of wildlife-habitat relationships, including a focus on restoration ecology and endangered species management. He is the author or coauthor of three textbooks, including Restoring wildlife: ecological concepts and practical applications (Island Press, Washington, DC., 2009), as well as works on study design, habitat analysis and monitoring techniques, and has authored or coauthored more than 250 papers and monographs. He is Editor of Ornithological Monographs and associate editor for Western North American Naturalist, and former editor-in-chief of the Journal of Wildlife Management.
